Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.
Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks the player's initial championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.
Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.
"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an better serving game.
He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.
The pair traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Appropriately, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
